In August, my husband and I discovered a dog at Pet Alliance, a constant presence that sparked an instant connection. We made a deliberate decision to arrive early one Saturday morning, knowing we had found our ideal companion.
Our brief encounter with King was all it took to seal our decision. We were eager to finalize the adoption process and welcome him to our sanctuary.
For over thirty years, we've been drawn to animals that others overlook – seniors, medical cases, and those with behavioral needs. King embodied this description perfectly, having been surrendered at eleven due to a divorce. Despite being adopted and returned three times, King's resilience remained unwavering.
During the ride home, I captured a photo of King in the back seat, and his radiant smile took my breath away. Once home, we introduced him to our dogs, but it became clear King needed a separate space. A scuffle with our black lab confirmed this, but we were committed to providing King with the love and care he deserved.
