At The Last Resort Animal Sanctuary, our mission is to protect animals and ensure lifelong, responsible placements. Adoption is a serious commitment, and we carefully screen all potential adopters to ensure the best outcomes for our animals.

ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS

1. Application & Approval

• A completed adoption application is required.
• Approval is based on the individual needs of the animal.
• The sanctuary reserves the right to decline any application if it is not in the animal’s best interest.

2. Lifetime Commitment

• Adoption is a lifelong responsibility.
• Animals may not be sold, transferred, rehomed, or surrendered to another rescue or shelter.
• If an adopter can no longer keep the animal, the animal must be returned to The Last Resort Animal Sanctuary.

3. Home Environment

• Adopters must provide a safe, stable, indoor home environment.
• Outdoor-only living arrangements are not permitted.
• Renters must provide written landlord approval.

4. Veterinary & Humane Care

• Adopters must provide routine and emergency veterinary care.
• Animals must not be allowed to suffer due to lack of care or financial hardship.
• Positive reinforcement training methods only.

5. Prohibited Practices

• No declawing, tail docking, ear cropping, or cosmetic procedures.
• No chaining, tethering, or prolonged confinement.

6. Follow-Up & Oversight

• The sanctuary reserves the right to conduct follow-ups and home checks.
• Updates and photos may be requested to ensure the animal’s well-being.

7. Adoption Fees

• Cats: $250
• Dogs: $350
• Fees reflect costs for vetting, spay/neuter, vaccinations, and rescue care.
• Fees are non-refundable.
• Accepted payment methods: Credit Card or Cash only.
